Coming Soon: Home Groups

Date: May 14, 2026
Author: Jared Hardin

In the coming weeks, we plan to launch home groups that will meet in the area. These will be monthly meetings designed to deepen fellowship and prayer within the church (see Acts 2:42-47). Here are some more details about these small group meetings:

WHO are they for?

    -  Home groups are designed for church members and their immediate families.

    -  Group diversity is a good thing — we want people of all ages and backgrounds coming together to pray for one another and share in one another’s lives. After all, older and younger Christians have a lot to learn from each other!

WHAT will we do?

    -  Home groups are not primarily Bible studies, though biblical discussion will naturally take place. Instead, home groups are specifically designed to deepen fellowship and foster prayer.

    -  A typical home group meeting should look something like this:

         -  20 mins - BEGINNING:  People arrive, small talk, snacks/drinks

         -  20 mins - PRAYER:  Each person shares “highs and lows” from their life, and prayers are offered by various members of the group (Either have everyone pray, or select a few to pray. Make sure to include all the requests given. At times, it may be helpful to separate genders.)

         -  20 mins - DISCUSSION:  Each leader will be provided with a few discussion questions based on the previous Sunday’s sermon.

   -  Groups may choose to have a meal on special occasions, but this is not expected for each meeting.

WHERE will we meet?

    -  Each group will have group leaders (usually a married couple) and co-hosts. The group leaders will lead discussion and prayer and communicate information to the group each month. Co-hosts will open their home to the group when the group leaders don’t host. Group leaders and co-hosts can alternate hosting so that the same household doesn’t have to host each month.

    -  You do NOT have to host to participate in a home group!

    -  Don’t forget: on occasion, a group may choose to gather at the church building or shelter houses as an alternate meeting place (especially during nice weather).

WHY should we have them?

    -  Since the days of the Apostles, believers have met in their homes for prayer and fellowship (Acts 2:46; 5:42).

    -  There are many New Testament commands to “love one another,” “pray for one another,” “confess your sins to one another,” and “encourage one another” (John 13:34, James 5:16, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Hebrews 10:24-25). Home groups provide a structure where this can happen comfortably and regularly.
